Today, we are taking some time to learn about César Chávez by reading former President Obama's proclamation creating César Chávez Day in 2014.
1. Read Former President Obama's Presidential Proclamation about César Chávez Day.
2. Reread the proclamation on the following pages, paying close attention to the directions on 
page 2.
3. On page 8, use any of the creative tools tell or show us how you will improve your community.

This activity can be completed independently, but can also be a whole-class discussion guided by the teacher. We encourage this learning activity to be taken offline by incorporating a service learning project to celebrate César Chávez's legacy.
