Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This activity uses a step-by-step drawing video to teach students how to plan a drawing with simple shapes, add overlapping elements for depth, erase guidelines, and finish with marker and color. Use the five short pages to guide students: watch the demonstration, reflect on learning, answer quick comprehension questions, create and share their artwork, and self-assess confidence. Prepare pencils, erasers, markers, and marker paper (or any drawing paper). If devices are available, students can photograph or record their work to submit. For the open-ended responses: 'Think About It' - a high-quality answer names a specific step learned (e.g., "I learned to draw the box as a square with rounded corners") and includes a clear, specific question (e.g., "How do I draw shading?"), showing reflection. 'Show It' - a high-quality submission includes a clear photo or short video of the finished bento box and a brief explanation of at least two choices (foods chosen and one drawing decision such as color or face design). Teachers may mark open-ended work as correct if the student shows evidence of following basic steps and provides thoughtful reflection or explanation.
