Student Instructions

๐Ÿ–ผ 1. Click on the choice board to open it. ๐Ÿ‘€ 2. Watch the video that will show you what the finished game will look like. ๐Ÿ˜บ 3. Go to scratch.mit.edu, log into your account, and create a new project. If you need some help, there is access to a cheat sheets on the choice board by clicking on the sprites. video 4. Screen record your finished game, showing your audience how it is played. add 6. Upload your screen recording as a response to the activity in your Seesaw journal. caption 7. Tell us what you have learned. What was easy? What was challenging? What you would do next time? How can you use your new learning? check 8. Tick to upload to your journal.

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This activity is also available on the Scratch site, but the scaffolding of this activity gives the students a chance to successfully create their first game and play. The students learn to modify their background, use variables, loops, conditions that involve the use of colour and moving a sprite with the mouse/finger. The screen recording feature on the iPads enables them the means to showcase their final product. They can either record the game using the full screen (in Scratch) or within the project so their audience can see some of the coding involved. If you are using MacBook laptops, you are able to screen record using โŒ˜, โ‡ง, 5 (Command-Shift-5) on OSX 14 (Mojave) and above or using Quicktime Player. A chromebook needs an extension such as Loom, Screencastify or Screen Recorder.
