Be a beat detective! Choose a song that you know well. Find the beat. Try walking to the beat to see how fast it is. If it is slower than walking pace, the tempo is largo. If it is a normal walking pace, the tempo is Andante. If it is jogging pace, the tempo is Allegro. If it is running pace, the tempo is presto. Then, find the strong beats. Remember, a strong beat always comes first in a group of beats. How many beats are in each group? Your answer will typically be 2, 3, or 4.
