Grades: 3rd Grade, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade
Subjects: Character Building

Student Instructions

With the help of the video and the read aloud Don’t Hug Doug (He Doesn’t Like It) you will learn about what consent is with your class. On the third page you will create a chart to help share what you learned about consent using the label tool. When you are finished press the check to submit your work.

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This lesson is meant to be viewed whole class. The idea is to use the video and the read aloud to build background on what consent is and then use the third page as a class anchor chart to go over what you have learned about what consent means. As our students begin to develop body autonomy it is important for us to foster an understanding of what consent is and if they have the right to pick and choose how others come in contact with them. This idea is especially important as we begin to see restrictions left after Covid and students are going to be coming closer into contact with one another.
