Teachers, save “Popcorn Number Search” to assign it to your class.

1. Click on the button. 2. Click on the tool to grab the magic window and move it around the popcorn picture to reveal the hidden numbers. 3. Put the numbers in order in the 10s frame to the right of the popcorn. 4. Say the numbers in order (count to 10). 5. Click on the green to post to your journal. Simplify: * Help your child "find" the numbers in order. It makes it much easier to place them in order. (Or skip putting them in order altogether.) * If your child is not ready for number recognition, have them count "3 yellow pieces" (or name colors) instead. * If your child is less verbal, have them point to the color you say. For example: "Show me a yellow piece of popcorn" or "Touch a green piece of popcorn", etc. to see what colors they recognize. Extend: * See if your child can figure out how to get the numbers in order even if they find the 7 first, then the 3, etc. * See how many pieces of popcorn your child can count (real popcorn or in the picture). * Have your child explain how they think the popcorn got all the colors. Learning Potential: Math 3 yr.1.1: Count to ten by ones. Math 3 yr.1.2: Recognize that numbers have a known sequence (for example, “1, 2, 3, 4, 5. What comes next?”).
