Water cycle - water from plants

Grades: 6th Grade, 5th Grade, 7th Grade
Subjects: Geography, Science

Student Instructions

Look at the picture of the plant. Find a plant near you and cover some of the leaves of the plant with a clear plastic bag. Don't forget to seal it, so that the air does not escape. Cover the plant with a clear plastic bag and put it into the sun for a period of time (2-3 hours). Observe the changes and answer the questions that follow. Post a picture that shows your plant that you have covered.

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

Students should have a knowledge of the water cycle and that water vapour is released by evaporation, plants and humans into the atmosphere. Teachers may want to cover a plant at school and allow students to observe it.
