Narrative Practice: Sequencing

Grades: 9th Grade, 10th Grade
Subjects: Multilingual Learners, English Language Arts

Student Instructions

1. Review 👀 the attached handout about using sequencing in a story. 2. Complete the following steps using by opening a new Word document 💻 and pasting a screenshot 📸 (this will be easier than using the label tool, though that will also work). 🔹Copy and paste a 2-4 paragraph scene from the draft of your original narrative. Use one 1️⃣ color of text. 🔹Pick a sequencing strategy (flashback, flash forward, dream sequence) that you can add to the beginning or end of the story scene. Type it in using a second 2️⃣ color of text. (Remember, this is a draft, but you should still be focused on a strong 💪 final product.) 🔹Pick 3-5 sequencing words or phrases from the list and add them in a third 3️⃣ color of text. 🔹 Click check. I can't wait to see your rainbow🌈 of sequencing!
