Climate change: What is an ecosystem?

Grades: 6th Grade, 5th Grade, 7th Grade
Subjects: STEAM, Science, Geography

Student Instructions

Ecosystems are all around us! Let’s learn more. 1. First, click this link https://thecarbonalmanac.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/GenC_ebook.pdf and read page 23 of the ebook "Generation Carbon: It's time to start" 2. Next, click the add button to start a new submission. Ecosystems are connected groups that work together. Each piece of an ecosystem influences each other piece. 3. Now, use the drawing tool to draw an example of an ecosystem. This can be any type of ecosystem: an environmental ecosystem or even an ecosystem you are apart of! 4. Brainstorm how each part influences the system. Think about what happens to the way the system works when changes are made to a single part. 5. Tap the mic and explain your ecosystem drawing (talk about the different parts, and how they all work together). Next, give an example of what would happen to the rest of the system if one piece changed. Lastly, discuss what this might mean for changes to our environmental ecosystem. 5. Click check button when you're ready to submit your work (you can use the draft button to save a draft).
